Generally, candidates for bariatric surgery:

  • Are at least 100 pounds over their ideal body weight (BMI of 40 or higher). People who have a BMI of 35 to 40 may also be eligible if they have two or more serious health problems (such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, and gallbladder disease) related to their obesity. You can calculate your BMI here.
  • Have a history of being overweight for several years.
  • Have tried diet and exercise programs but have not been successful.
  • Are between the ages of 18 and 70.

If you do not meet this criteria for surgery, we also offer a non-surgical weight loss program option.
