Expansion efforts at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital reached a key milestone on May 6, 2022 with the opening of its new cafeteria—Central Table Eatery.
One of the first phases of the hospital’s Trauma & Emergency Department expansion project to be completed, the Central Table Eatery serves as the hospital’s communal hub, offering handcrafted, healthy and locally sourced menu offerings in a modern, comforting environment. The new Eatery emphasizes healthful eating and wellness, a similar trend seen across hospitals nationwide.
The new space prepares and serves roughly 3,500 meals a day for employees, patients, and visitors. The expansion modernized LGH’s comprehensive food-service operations, increasing the capacity for the number of meals served by 20%.
Indoor and outdoor seating areas and additional food stations, including a station that showcases local restaurants and doubles as a demonstration kitchen for cooking classes, opened in early 2023.
The Eatery is yet another way our health system continues to invest in enhancing the health and well-being of our community.
